As immigrants from Italy, Silvestrini Morini nee Balzi (pictured at far
left) and Mario Morini (at far right) built this store in 1919. Their
three sons stand between them in this 1927 photograph (from left to
right: Angelo Morini Sr., Augusto, and Lawrence). Angelo, the youngest,
would later purchase the business from his parents, and together with
his wife , Lisa Morini nee Ricciuti, would grow it into four Morini
Market Stores. |
Originally established in 1919 as a family-owned chain of
food markets located in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, MORINI
MARKETS has grown into MORINI BRANDS™. Inheriting a nearly 90 year

MORINI BRANDS is led by Christopher Morini Sr. - son of the late Angelo
Morini Sr. (pictured above) - who brings with him over 30 years
experience in every facet of the food industry. His unique knowledge,
experience and vision are the driving forces behind the creation of
Risofu and the launch of the Bahama Rice Burger.
A wide-ranging variety of executive responsibilities - from general
manager of his family’s privately owned and operated MORINI MARKETS to
Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Galaxy Cheese Co. and
Galaxy Nutritional Foods. It
was there at Galaxy
Nutritional Foods , a publically traded
company, where Christopher Morini Sr. created Veggie Slices - natures
alternative to cheese and the world’s first Rice base cheese
alternative. Together, these two positions and brands remain market
leaders and the core business for Galaxy Nutritional Foods. This
experience has given Mr. Morini a deep understanding of
the complex dynamics surrounding product development for the
increasingly sophisticated health
conscious public. This,
along with the support of family and friends enabled Mr. Morini to
bring his next idea to life.
Committed to returning to the "innovative essence" of his family
"roots", and remaining faithful to the time-honored values of his
parents and grandparents, Christopher Morini Sr. is proud to announce
the formation of MORINI BRANDS (a separate and privately held company),
the creation of Risofu - the world's first rice-based meat alternative
- and the launch of the soy-free Bahama Rice Burger™.
Mr. Morini recognizes rice to be a wonderful food, with tremendously
untapped potential. He believes the current demand for great tasting
and nutritious food alternatives will best be satisfied with rice-based
innovations like Risofu, and predicts that the sales of rice-based
foods will one day eclipse those made from soy.
